The entrance of “Kanda Matsuya”
¡ÈKanda Matsuya¡É, established in Meiji 17 (1884), is located at a corner of Kandasuda city which prospered as a downtown from late Meiji period to early Showa period.
Soba or buckwheat noodle is one of Japanese signature healthy food.
¡ÈZarusoba¡É (550 yen) is a popular menu and its combination of handmade soba and fairly thick soy sauce based soup matches perfectly well.
In this time of the year, warm soba is recommended. In ¡ÈTennambansoba¡É (950 yen), shrimp tempura, long leek, and yuzu peel are put on top of soba. If you sprinkle some seven-spice pepper and drink all soup up, you will be able to get warm from the bone marrow and forget about the coldness outside.
You will be able to watch soba being made through a glass.
In addition, the restaurant is in a refined wooden made two-story building built around Taisho period (1910s). It is quite popular that people come to sketch the building when the weather is good.
