Osechi Ryouri is a traditional dish of New Year and thus many Japanese enjoy it during this season. Ingredients differ in different areas, but black beans and herring roe are normally used. Each ingredient of Osechi has meanings; for example, black bean means health and herring roe means posterity. Osechi is cooked before New Year¡Çs Day and since it can be kept long, women will be not need to cook during the New Year break. Nevertheless, because preparing Osechi requires quite much of time and effort, number of people buying Osechi from supermarkets, department stores, online shops, etc., is increasing. Average price is about 10,000 yen(about 85 dollars), but long-established restaurant in Kyoto sells it for 300,000 yen(about 2,600 dollars.) in high-class department stores. It is very surprising that this price is for just 4~5 persons.
